Seraph in the SkyWinter 2012, Watercolor/Sharpie Medium
I love this picture possibly the most. It's certainly the largest I've ever done. I was reading a story in the Bible in the book of Isaiah, and it mentioned this particular image. The seraphs have six wings, two covering their feet, two covering their eyes, and two to fly with. I tweaked it a bit, but the concept is there. After I finished the image, I cut it out, glued it to cardboard, and glued that to the blue watercolor wash I did. My goal was to make the seraph stand out as much as I could, and it literally pops out from it's background. Don't you agree? |
Watching Over UsSpring 2012, Pencil Medium
I wanted to do something subtle, but powerful, and so I drew a boy facing away. I don't show the faces of angels in any of my drawings. I feel that they have a mystery about them that I can't capture by giving them faces. I tried to give this particular angel light, almost transluscent wings. I wanted it to hit people that angels may be walking among us, and we would never know it. This picture is very important to me, because I feel like I discovered something with this drawing. |
FallenSpring 2012, Pen Medium
This picture kind of speaks for itself. The phrase 'fallen angel' couldn't have come from nowhere, could it? I wanted to do something darker, because Christianity isn't all puppies and rainbows. For this one, I drew a female angel walking alone at night with her head bowed in shame. She'd disobeyed God, and paid the ultimate price: banishment from Heaven. This one tells a story, and it inspired me for one. Maybe it will inspire you, too. |
Heaven's GatesSpring 2012, Pencil Medium
I wanted to show my version of the Heavenly gates with my final piece. Well, I'm not so sure about it now, but this is definitely what I thought it would be like when I was little: silver gates open and resting on clouds, Saint Michael in the opening welcoming souls inside; it seems wonderful and magical, and I didn't know what to make the people look like, so I drew their silhouettes instead. Clever, no? |
SereneWinter 2012, Acrylic Paint Medium
This was my ver yfirst project for this new focus I chose. I was still half-deciding when I did this one. I choose to think of this as a lonely girl praying. Or perhaps she's being filled up with the Holy Spirit. You decide what religious thing she may be doing. I got the idea for this painting from a google image search. I found a painting with the same concept, but I changed her short blond hair to long brown hair, and the background was blue in the painting, not pink. Her skin was also lighter, and her chin jutted out more. |
